Principal Update

Kindergarten Turkey Tango
This morning our kindergarten students performed for their parents the Turkey Tango.  They were amazing!  Thank you, Debbie Martin, for doing such a great job with our youngest Comets.  We will all be singing Super Turkey and the Turkey Tango songs all day!  J

Thanksgiving Luncheon
The Thanksgiving Luncheon was a great success.  We enjoyed having so many of our families here with us during lunch on Wednesday.  Thank you to Kathy Gilligan, our cafeteria manager, for helping make this event run so smoothly, and thank you to our parents who volunteered their time in between eating with their kiddos.

I am pleased to share that our Average Daily Attendance Rate Percentage for the second six weeks of school remains at 98%!  WOW!  This is incredible.  We continue to celebrate high attendance with our Comets!  Thank you parents!

Thank You, PTA
Last Friday, November 14th, the PTA and 1st Grade parents hosted a Friday Feast for the staff.  Thank you so much for the delicious lunch.  We appreciate you more than you know.

Early Release
Wednesday, December 3rd will be an Early Release day for our students.  They will be dismissed at 12:45 p.m.  Our teachers will attend professional development that afternoon.  Please make arrangements to pick up your child/children early on this day.

Science Fair Is Fast Approaching
Science Fair is running a little different this year.   Every student, Kinder through 5th grade, will participate in a whole class Science project.  These projects will take place between now and January 21st in order to prepare for our CCE Science Night.  Our CCE Science Night will be hosted on Thursday, January 22nd.  More information on this night will be provided in the future.  Any students interested in submitting an individual Science Fair project may do so.  Students submitting individual projects in grades 3- 5 will be judged in pursuit of attending the Austin Energy Regional Science Fair that takes place on Saturday, February 21st.

Packets will be available in the office on Friday, December 5th, for students wishing to participate with an individual project.  The packet will include timelines as well as other helpful information.  We will send home a letter in students’ Tuesday Folders on Tuesday, December 2nd, with more information.

Holiday Parties
Classroom holiday parties will take place on Thursday, December 18th beginning around 1:30 pm.  We are offering childcare for siblings (at least 1 year old), as siblings are not allowed to attend classroom parties (per the RRISD Student Parent Handbook).  Drop off for childcare will begin at 1:15 pm at the Parent Resource Center (portable 1A) and will remain open until 2:45 pm.  The cost is $7 per child.  Reservations are required and are accepted until Friday, December 12th.  To make a reservation, please contact Mary Ann Hettenhaus, our Family Support Specialist.  Please include the age of the child/children you will be dropping off.  You can contact her at
