We had 131 students take advantage of our Flu Immunization Clinic on Wednesday!  The process was very quick and painless!  Thank you parents for helping make our school a healthy place for students to learn.

5th GRADE PERFORMANCE
Our fifth graders did an outstanding job on Tuesday night during their musical performance.  This is definitely a talented group of students.

CCE WELCOMES A NEW MEMBER TO OUR TEAM
We would like to welcome Amy Batiz to our Canyon Creek team!  Amy is our new teacher in our Functional Academic Classroom.  We are thrilled to have her with us.  She has just finished her first week.  Please help us welcome her.  Feel free to say hi and introduce yourself to her when you see her around campus.

FLEXIBLE LEARNING SPACES
We are in the process of learning about flexible learning spaces and how we can incorporate this idea into our classrooms.  One way we are exploring this is through the use of desks which students can stand to work.  We currently have one stand up desk on loan from the company Stand2Learn™.  The desk is beginning to make its way around the school in different classrooms.  So far, the feedback from students and teachers is very positive.  The purpose behind flexible learning environments is to increase student engagement, collaboration and learning.  These spaces have the potential to enable innovative approaches to teaching and learning compared to the traditional classroom.  We are excited about the possibilities as our ultimate goal is to provide a learning environment which is supportive to students and meets their individual needs.  Below are pictures of the desk being used.  We will keep you posted as we learn more flexible learning spaces and how Canyon Creek might make adjustments to our classrooms.

THANKSGIVING LUNCH VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
We are still in need of a few volunteers to assist with our Thanksgiving Lunch on Wednesday, November 18th.  Please click here for the Volunteer Sign Up.  We really appreciate your help and look forward to having our families with us for lunch.

SCHOOL MESSENGER VOICE BROADCASTING
The main communication system we use when we need to reach our families is our School Messenger Voice Broadcasting System.  We use this to remind parents about early dismissals and in the event we have severe weather or other emergency situations.  It is important that we have the correct parent contact information and that we are messaging users who have opted into the system.  On Tuesday, November 10th, students will bring home a paper verification in their Tuesday Folder.  Please review the information, make any necessary changes that are needed and return the form to school.  Our campus registrar will make changes that are indicated on the form.  Thank you for your assistance with this.  We want all of our families to be well informed.

REMINDERS

TAG PARENT INFORMATION NIGHT
Are you interested in the RRISD Talented and Gifted program?  Do you want to learn more about the program and the referral process?  A parent information meeting will be held on Thursday, November 12th from 6-7 p.m. in the CCE Computer Lab.

CLOTHING NEEDED
Our nurse’s clinic is in need of clothing.  We are looking for any type of bottoms (pants, shorts, etc.) in all children’s sizes.  Knit and stretchy material is the most helpful as we are able to use them for multiple sizes.  If you have clothes your child has outgrown, we will gladly take items off of your hands.
